This year, Burgasbus EOOD, with the support of the Municipality of Burgas, has continued to invest in expanding and improving its transport services. A new option for passengers is currently being rolled out: validation using debit and credit bank cards directly on board the bus. This service will go live on Monday, December 8.
All vehicles operating within the Burgas public transport network are equipped with readers that validate the trip when a passenger taps their contactless bank card against them—in the same way they currently validate using Burgasbus-issued plastic cards or a QR code generated on a smartphone screen. Passengers may also use other smart devices, such as a phone or a smartwatch. The readers are located within the validation units opposite the bus’s second door. Validation via bank card is equivalent to the single-trip ticket that passengers can purchase on board. The cost of a single trip paid by bank card is 1.50 BGN (0.77 EUR). Validation occurs automatically at the moment of purchase. Ticket inspections are carried out using new devices issued to conductors and ticket inspectors. The bank card validation system fully complies with data protection requirements for cardholders. You can find more information at the following link: https://transport.burgasbus.info/emv
Note: After January 1, 2026, the price of a single trip using a bank card will be 0.80 EUR.
